The Biggest Misconception You Have About Confidence

Confidence is not an IF THEN…phenomena.   We all want to feel more confident.  However, we think that we can’t feel confident, happy, or motivated until we change something about ourselves or attain something that is external from ourselves…   For example, I’ll feel more confident to do ___________ when I have a better body, a better relationship, more money, more education, a better job, etc.   We have been led to believe that once we have these “things” in place that we’ll feel happy, loved, confident, and worthy.   But, guess what…it’s never enough is it? It’s an endless cycle of DO more to get more of ____________.   I know this misconception to be true from first hand experience in the gym world.  Everyone thinks that they’ll feel more confident when they reach their physique or performance goal….But guess what, it’s like we never arrive…There’s always the next level to get to […]

Motivation Isn’t a Feeling, Stop Waiting For It!

Ever sit around waiting for that feeling of motivation to wash over you so that you’ll stop procrastinating and get started on a goal or project?  It happens to all of us, at one time or another.

I’ll start off by saying that motivation isn’t a feeling at all.  In fact, Google, defines it as, “the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.”  As you can see, feelings aren’t mentioned once.  But, don’t worry, I’ve got some steps for you to follow.

Watch the Video below to learn two reasons you’re feeling unmotivated and what to do about it.

The Motivation Plan

Identify Your WHY —-> TAKE CONSISTENT ACTION —-> Feel Motivated —-> Gain Momentum —-> See Results —-> Feel Motivated to Take MORE ACTION —-> Rinse & Repeat.

The most important step of making the above process work for you is to identify your WHY. Without it, you’ll be lost and stuck.  For any behavior change to occur, this step has to be identified. This has to be important to you and connected to your core values, or it will be hard to take action, when you don’t feel like it or when the process gets tough.

Let me know in the comments below, how you stay motivated and on track to reach your goals.

How I Finally Learned to LOVE My Thighs

For as long as I can remember, I disliked the way my legs and thighs looked.   These thoughts started around puberty and lasted well into my late 20s and early 30s.  I thought they were too white, too stubby & big, looked fat, and I was pretty sure that I had thunder thighs.  I could also add that I didn’t appreciate the dimples and cellulite, that had found a comfy home nestled on the backs of my thighs, not too mention, the stretch marks that showed up during my rapid growth spurt.   So what did I do about this predicament?   Well, I spent many years exercising excessively and dieting, so that I could have legs like Cameron Diaz!  But really, doesn’t she have the best legs?  If only Cameron knew how many miles I ran striving to get legs like her!   Boy, do I wish I could get some of that time back, considering Cameron and I have […]

What Back Pain & Gangsta Rap Taught Me About Gratitude

I started a SIMPLE, bodyweight exercise routine the other day, and in the middle of it, I dropped to my knees in pain and just started sobbing out of control.  It finally hit me like a lightning bolt & I thought, “I’m really in denial about how much pain I’m in and have been in over the last couple of months, and what the hell am I going to do about this?”   Augie walked in right in the middle of the sweat and tears and asked, “What happened?”  I said, “My back hurts and I can’t deal anymore, and I WANT TO workout!  I’m tired of going easy.  I want to move like I want to move & pick up the intensity.  My back needs to get over it & get with the f-ing program.  I’ve HAD IT”  He said, “What you need to do is STOP!  You […]
